a new horizon.

As the design lead for Navdy 2.0 our primary goal was to simplify the form, reduce the optical path and unify the mounting system. Matching various dashboard geometries to create an integrated and flush installation is near impossible. We approached this challenge by mimicking the common arc of automotive dashboards on the device itself. The repetitive contours between the car dashboard and product, tricks the eye and gives a better perception of integration into the dashboard. The addition of a speaker, mic and larger combiner gave opportunity to redefine details through the rest of the product as well.

continue the legacy, or redefine it.

after conceptualizing several forms we filtered down to two equally outstanding designs. the first, a continuation of Navdy 1.0’s product language. the second, a departure from first generation aesthetics, utilizing a softer form, a slim profile and optimizing for visual integration into vehicle dashboards.

a large and soft arcing top surface mimics the average dashboard radius, creating an impactful feeling of the display being integrated into the dashboard. the mount does the remaining work, capturing any light and creating shadows where the display meets the dashboard.
